Pacific Northwest Rumbles Again: Unpacking the Seismic Activity Near Port Townsend.

A 4.3 magnitude earthquake occurred in western Washington on Sunday evening, with its epicenter near Port Townsend by Marrowstone Island. Felt from Vancouver to Olympia, such tremors typically happen every few years in the region. While there were no aftershocks, significant damage would require a quake of magnitude between 6 and 7. Harold Tobin of the Pacific Northwest Seismic Network stressed the importance of earthquake preparedness for residents. The quake posed no tsunami threat, and regional seismic activity is mainly due to the movement between the Juan de Fuca Oceanic Plate and the North America Continental Plate.

Snohomish County Shaken: Deputy Prosecutor Caught in DUI Drama!

Elliot Thomsen, a deputy prosecutor from Snohomish County, was arrested over the weekend on suspicion of DUI and later posted a $2,500 bond. In 2021, Thomsen had been suspended for five days for withholding evidence in a drug trial but remained employed, though with reassigned duties. On the day of his recent arrest, he had been managing serious court cases. The police reported signs of impairment during his arrest, and he declined a breathalyzer test. A blood sample was obtained through a court-approved warrant. Thomsen has practiced law since 2015. Prosecutor Jason Cummings noted no formal charges had been filed yet and commented on ensuring proper administrative procedures moving forward.

The proposed team names reflect a broader Washington identity, with a hint towards the "Twilight" films shot nearby. JR Wells, a former player and recent coordinator for the Royals, will coach the team, which will play at the Angel of the Winds Arena. The AFL season begins in April, with player combines organized in Dallas and the West Coast.
