Thousands Evacuated in Iceland Amid Fears of Imminent Volcanic Eruption
Seismic activity in southwestern Iceland has decreased, but the threat of a volcanic eruption remains high. Nearly 4,000 people were evacuated over the weekend due to the risk of molten rock surfacing near a coastal town and power station. The Icelandic Meteorological Office warns of a significant likelihood of an eruption, citing underground magma movement. Residents of Grindavik experienced intense tremors, leading to widespread evacuations, with most finding shelter with relatives. The Reykjanes peninsula has a history of volcanic activity, with several eruptions in recent years.

Fatal Confrontation in Mount Vernon Home Invasion: Teen Perpetrator Killed
In a targeted home invasion in Mount Vernon's Mount Baker Loop area, a group of armed teenagers broke into a home, leading to a violent confrontation with the residents. A 16-year-old intruder died from injuries sustained in the scuffle, while a 15-year-old is now in juvenile detention facing first-degree burglary and assault charges. Several occupants of the home, including an 18-year-old, a 45-year-old woman, and a 23-year-old man, needed hospital treatment, and a 42-year-old man was treated at the scene. The incident is under investigation as a targeted act of violence.
