Reading, Comfort, and Paws: Mukilteo Library's Innovative Program for Kids

The Mukilteo Library's Tails and Tales program offers children a unique opportunity to improve their reading skills by reading aloud to therapy dogs like Strummer, a Labrador retriever. Nichole Leibov and her daughter, Noemie, are regulars at this biweekly event, which has significantly boosted Noemie's reading confidence. This initiative, led by children's librarian Lindsey Anderson, also helps children overcome their fear of dogs, as the therapy dogs provide a calming and non-judgmental presence.

Precision Strikes by U.S. Military Target Militia Bases in Iraq Amid Tensions

The United States has conducted airstrikes on three facilities in Iraq linked to the Iranian-backed Kataib Hezbollah militia. This was in retaliation to recent attacks on U.S. and Coalition personnel, highlighting the ongoing conflict in the region. The strikes were a direct response to hostile actions by Iranian-sponsored militias, and they targeted the militia's operational capabilities. This situation is part of a larger regional conflict, involving U.S. military presence, Iranian influence, and the war in Gaza.
