Ceasefire Talks in Gaza Stall as Ramadan Deadline Looms

Negotiations for a ceasefire in Gaza before Ramadan face significant hurdles, with no agreement in sight despite intense discussions in Cairo. The deadlock is attributed to various factors, including Israel's demand for a list of hostages and Hamas's conditions for an Israeli withdrawal. The situation is critical, with the Biden administration pushing for a truce to avoid further escalation of the conflict. A possible ceasefire deal involves a six-week pause in fighting, exchanges of hostages and prisoners, and steps towards a lasting peace, yet significant challenges remain.
