PUD Approves 5.8% Rate Increase for Snohomish Energy Customers Starting Next Month
Snohomish County Public Utility District has approved a 5.8% energy rate increase starting April, in response to rising costs and financial challenges in the sector. This adjustment, initially planned as a much smaller increment, was revised due to inflation, supply chain issues, extreme weather, and a spike in energy prices. The increase aims to cover higher labor costs due to demand and staffing shortages. Additionally, the utility plans to invest in infrastructure and technology, with a new solar project set to support households in need.

EU's Multi-Billion Euro Aid to Egypt: Balancing Economy, Migration, and Human Rights
The European Union has allocated a 7.4 billion-euro aid package to Egypt, aiming to support its economy and enhance cooperation on migration and security issues. This move, signed in Cairo among high-ranking officials, seeks to address Europe's migration concerns while promoting economic stability in Egypt. Despite the financial boost, the agreement faces criticism over Egypt's human rights record, with international organizations calling for clear human rights benchmarks.
