Summer Nutrition: Washington's Free Meal Program for Children and Teens

This summer, students across Washington state can access free lunches through a variety of community programs. These initiatives, aimed at combating food insecurity, ensure that children and teenagers up to age 18 have access to nutritious meals even when school is not in session. The programs are being administered by local schools, community centers, and libraries, offering convenient locations for families. The free lunch program is particularly vital during the summer months when many children who rely on school meals might otherwise go without. By providing meals at accessible locations, the program helps to bridge the gap and ensure that no child goes hungry. Parents can find meal sites by visiting local school district websites or community center bulletins.
