WSDOT Uncovers Hazardous Man-Made Tunnel in Everett

WSDOT crews found a man-made tunnel under State Route 529 in Everett, causing a sinkhole. Discovered on July 2nd, the hole is 1.5 feet in diameter, posing a risk to vehicles. The location is near Northbound 529 at East Marine View Drive and is not connected to current bridge work. Traffic is being rerouted, and transit routes are adjusted. A similar tunnel was found in 2021.

Car Crash Forces Temporary Closure of Marysville Dollar Tree

A Marysville Dollar Tree store is temporarily closed after a driver lost control and crashed into the building on the 1200 block of State Avenue. The incident, which occurred without any reported injuries, prompted authorities to close the store until a building inspector can assess the structural damage. Further updates will be provided after the inspection determines the safety of reopening the store.

A stampede at a religious gathering in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, India, resulted in the deaths of at least 24 people. The tragedy occurred as thousands of followers of the late spiritual leader Jai Gurudev attempted to cross a narrow iron bridge. The crowd, far exceeding the originally permitted number of 5,000 attendees, panicked following rumors of the bridge's collapse.
