Teen Arrested After Fatal Shooting of 13-Year-Old at Alderwood Mall

A tragic shooting occurred at Alderwood Mall in Lynnwood, resulting in the death of 13-year-old Jayda Woods-Johnson. The incident happened on July 3, during an altercation between two groups of teenagers in the food court. A 16-year-old boy from Edmonds, identified by surveillance footage, fired a single shot that struck Jayda, who was an innocent bystander. The suspect was later turned in by his mother and is now in custody, facing murder charges. Authorities are still searching for the weapon and investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
