Construction Alert: I-405 and I-90 Closures to Cause Significant Delays

Both directions of I-405 between Renton and Bellevue will be closed from Friday night to Monday morning for the Renton to Bellevue Widening and Express Toll Lanes Project. Concurrently, eastbound I-90 between Seattle and Mercer Island will be closed, and westbound I-90 will be reduced to two lanes for restriping work. Drivers should expect heavy traffic and use alternative routes.

Motorists Attacked: Wave of Shootings on Seattle Highways

In recent weeks, motorists on highways in south King County have faced a series of alarming incidents. Six shootings were reported in a single night, with one driver shot in the neck and receiving treatment at Harborview Medical Center. The suspect, Marco A. Ramos Valdez, 28, of Auburn, was arrested and charged with drive-by shooting and assault. Valdez was linked to two of the shootings via witness descriptions and traffic camera footage. During a traffic stop, authorities discovered a semi-automatic handgun, ammunition, and shell casings in Valdez's vehicle. Despite claims of hearing voices and a defense questioning the identification, Valdez remains in custody with a $1 million bail. Authorities continue to investigate other shootings in the area, urging anyone with information to contact them.
