WSDOT Schedules Overnight Repairs for Everett's US 2 Ramp to I-5

The westbound US 2 ramp to northbound Interstate 5 in Everett will be closed overnight on Thursday, July 18, for maintenance work. The closure will start at 9 PM and end at 3 AM on Friday, July 19. The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) crews will repair sensors along the ramp and close the right lane of westbound US 2 leading to the ramp. Drivers are advised to seek alternative routes during this period.

Toddler's Death from Fentanyl Intoxication Leads to Manslaughter Charges for Mother

Morgan Lee Bassett, 34, has been charged with first-degree manslaughter after her 18-month-old daughter died from acute fentanyl intoxication. The incident took place on January 14, 2022, when the child was found unresponsive at their home. Despite efforts from first responders, she was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigations found fentanyl pills at the residence, and an autopsy confirmed the presence of the drug in the child’s system. Bassett admitted to using fentanyl around her daughter. The case is ongoing in Snohomish County Superior Court.
