Snohomish County Celebrates 100,000 Books Delivered to Kids

In a year, United Way of Snohomish County and Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library have delivered over 100,000 books to local children to boost early literacy. Nearly 11,000 children are currently enrolled, receiving free monthly books. The initiative underscores the community's dedication to fostering a love of reading and supporting children's development.

Major Drug Trafficking Operation Dismantled in Des Moines

In a major drug bust in Des Moines, Washington, law enforcement seized significant quantities of illegal substances and made two arrests. The operation, conducted by the King County Sheriff's Office Special Emphasis Team in collaboration with Homeland Security Investigations, targeted a drug trafficking organization supplying various locations including Des Moines, Shoreline, Renton, and Seattle. Authorities confiscated 71,000 fentanyl pills, 31 pounds of methamphetamine, 2.76 pounds of fentanyl powder, 1.12 pounds of heroin, $7,047 in cash, and one vehicle. The two individuals apprehended are facing federal charges. This successful operation underscores the ongoing efforts of local and regional law enforcement agencies to combat drug distribution in the community.
