Marysville Pilchuck High School Greenhouse Gets New Lease on Life

The greenhouse at Marysville Pilchuck High School, once part of an extensive agriculture program, had fallen into disrepair with overgrown blackberry bushes, vines, and weeds. Due to the retirement of a teacher, budget cuts, and declining interest, the agriculture program ended, and the greenhouse was neglected. This year, biology teachers Kayla Carter and Claire Luvera decided to restore the greenhouse.

Authorities Dismantle Major Cockfighting Ring in Buckley

Pierce County officials busted a cockfighting ring in Buckley, seizing 232 birds and various cockfighting tools. Several animal control agencies and shelters have taken in the birds. No charges have been filed so far.

Yahya Sinwar Appointed Hamas Chief Following Haniyeh Assassination

Hamas has appointed Yahya Sinwar as its new political leader following the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran. Sinwar, a key figure within Hamas, has been deeply involved in the group’s operations, including the planning of the October 7 attack on Israel, which resulted in over 1,200 deaths and the kidnapping of 250 individuals. Sinwar has been in hiding since the attack, reportedly using hostages as human shields. The U.S. State Department designated him as a global terrorist in 2015, and he has also been sanctioned by the UK and France.
