Here's when K-12 schools go back to school in western Washington

The first day of classes varies by district, spanning from August 27 to Sept. 13, with staggered starts for different grades in some districts.

From Seattle to Snohomish to Olympia, keep reading to see when students will be back in class for the 2024-25 school year.

On Aug. 27, students in the following districts will return to school:

Shoreline School District

North Kitsap School District

South Kitsap School District

Franklin Pierce School District

South Tacoma School District

Snoqualmie Valley School District

On Aug. 28, students in the following districts will return to school:

Kent School District

Renton School District

Tahoma School District

Bethel School District

Mount Vernon School District

On Aug. 29, students in the following districts will return to school:

Seattle Man Arrested for Manslaughter in Deadly Belltown Apartment Fire

A 65-year-old man has been arrested for manslaughter in connection with a deadly apartment fire in Seattle’s Belltown neighborhood on July 10. The fire, which occurred at First Avenue and Vine Street, resulted in the deaths of a 61-year-old man and a 50-year-old woman, and displaced fifty residents. The investigation is ongoing.

Biden Urges Cease-Fire Progress in Talks with Netanyahu Amid Gaza Conflict

President Biden and Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu discussed efforts to secure a cease-fire between Israel and Hamas, focusing on a "bridging proposal" despite significant obstacles. Biden stressed the urgency of finalizing a deal during the call, which also involved Vice President Harris.
