Man Accused of Killing Local Dog Walker and Her Pet Denied Bail
Jahmed Haynes, 48, has been denied bail after being charged with the carjacking and murder of Ruth Dalton and the death of her dog. Despite his extensive criminal record, including eight prior felonies, the state's "Three Strikes Rule" was not applied. Dalton's granddaughter, Melanie Roberts, supports the bail denial and has created a memorial page to honor her grandmother. Haynes’ violent past includes a 1993 conviction for vehicular homicide, for which he served just 17 months.

Cairo Peace Talks Continue as Israel, Hezbollah Trade Heavy Fire
Cease-fire talks in Cairo involving Israel and Hamas ended without an agreement but will continue at lower levels. Meanwhile, Israel and Hezbollah engaged in their heaviest exchange of fire in months, with both sides targeting military sites. Although violence escalated, both parties signaled a desire to avoid a full-scale war. U.S. officials are monitoring the situation closely, with the ongoing conflict having broader implications for regional stability.
