Russia Receives Iranian Missiles, Prompting New U.S. Sanctions
The United States revealed that Russia has received Iranian ballistic missiles for use in its war in Ukraine, prompting fresh U.S. sanctions on ships and companies involved in the weapons transfer. Secretary of State Antony Blinken warned that this marks a "dramatic escalation" and expects Russia to deploy the missiles soon. The sanctions target Russian vessels, Iranian entities, and individuals connected to military cooperation between the two nations. Despite Iran's denials, the missiles will likely bolster Russia’s arsenal for short-range strikes in Ukraine. The U.S. and European nations have also intensified sanctions on Iran Air and other actors involved in the arms transfers.
