Seattle Home Prices Surge 8.5% Despite Slower Sales in August

Seattle home prices surged 8.5% year-over-year in August 2024, with the median sales price reaching $745,000. Despite a 41.4% rise in active inventory, housing demand remains strong, supported by declining mortgage rates. Home sales decreased by 2.6%, and the average time to sell a home increased to 50 days, four days longer than last year. Seattle ranks third in the nation for price growth, and experts anticipate continued demand heading into the fall.

Coordinated Israeli Attack Blows Up Hezbollah Pagers, Leaving Hundreds Injured

Hundreds of pagers carried by Hezbollah members in Lebanon exploded in a coordinated Israeli attack, leaving nine dead and over 2,800 injured. The operation, involving Mossad and Israeli military forces, was aimed at disrupting Hezbollah’s low-tech communications. The Lebanese government condemned the attack, while experts suggest it signals Israel's intelligence capabilities and the potential for increased hostilities in the region.
