Israel Marks Tragic Anniversary with Fierce Fighting on Multiple Fronts

On October 7, 2024, Israel marked the one-year anniversary of the 2023 Hamas attack that killed around 1,200 Israelis and sparked a prolonged conflict. The anniversary was marked by a multi-front escalation of violence, with Hamas launching rockets at Tel Aviv and Hezbollah intensifying its attacks from Lebanon. Over 170 rockets were fired by Hezbollah into Israel, while Israel responded with a heavy bombing campaign in southern Lebanon, targeting Hezbollah positions with over 120 strikes in one hour. These events have added to the already devastating toll from the ongoing war, with over 41,000 Palestinians killed in Gaza and more than 1,400 Lebanese dead from Israel's retaliatory strikes.
