High Winds Leave Thousands Without Power Across Western Washington

A powerful windstorm hit western Washington over the weekend, causing widespread power outages. Snohomish County saw close to 40,000 customers affected, with crews working overnight to restore service. Other counties, including Clallam, also dealt with significant outages. The storm, driven by the season’s first atmospheric river, left thousands without power, with the hardest-hit areas being along the coast and north interior.

With Hamas Leader Gone, Blinken Aims for Gaza Ceasefire and Hostage Release

U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken is heading to Israel as part of a broader diplomatic effort to revive ceasefire talks in Gaza following the death of Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar. Blinken’s visit is seen as an opportunity to push for a pause in hostilities, while also addressing the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and the issue of hostages held by Hamas. His discussions will include encouraging Israel to consider a post-conflict plan for Gaza that involves reconstruction, withdrawal of Israeli forces, and establishing security and governance for Palestinians.
